Hello, and welcome to my very own little corner of the internet that I call Lost Online!

I created this safe haven in cyberspace for myself and others because I found myself so lost in the staggering options and opinions that pervade our daily lives in the Digital Age.
I’m Heather Ione, a self-help and self-improvement junkie who inspires my readers to live their happiest, healthiest lives. Because in the grand scheme of things, we all have just one short stay on this miraculous blue ball whirling around the universe.
I want to spend every moment of my time on earth doing what I love: traveling the world, writing into the wee hours of the night, drinking all of the chai, practicing yoga, reading every book on my Goodreads, snuggling with my boyfriend, and creating. That’s what I want for you too! You see, I’m one of those crazy nut-jobs who believes you should do what makes you happy over what makes you fit in.
Our precious time shouldn’t be spent withering away in a cubicle and staring at screens all day. It shouldn’t be spent trying to please other people with our life decisions and our resumes. I shouldn’t be spent in a bubble of negative self-talk and comparison fueled by carefully crafted social media posts. And it shouldn’t be spent binge-watching mind-numbing TV shows and scarfing down junk food.
Our time on earth should be spent doing the things that fill us up and make our souls shine. It should be spent fulfilling our life’s purpose.

That’s what I’m doing here, because I used to be so lost. So overwhelmed with all of the choices that were available to me, with what I saw online, and with trying to please other people, that I used to be so unhappy. But I believe in making your mess your message. I believe that everything that we go through happens for a reason, and my purpose here is to take my experience and help you find inner peace and happiness during what I believe is the most overwhelming time in history.
Think about it … You could watch hundreds of thousands of TV shows at the click of a button. You see 5,000 advertisements a day. You probably follow 400-500 people on social media and see their highlight reels everyday. You have thousands of options when you’re at the grocery store. You could online shop for an endless amount of time! The world that we live in now is chaotic to say the least. We have more options and more pleasures available to us than we know what to do with.
I’m here to inspire you and to give you some hope. To connect with you and hear your stories, so you feel like you’re not the only one having a hard time discovering who you should be or how you could possibly stay well when our world has exploded with advertisements, social media, demands from others, junk food, chemicals, etc.
In high school and college, there were several years when I had sacrificed my spiritual journey, my relationship, and my emotional, mental, and physical health all because I was trying to chase a life that looked good on the outside. I followed all of the coolest “content creators” and tried to be like them, I tried to look like the perfectly photoshopped people I saw online. I tried to buy clothes every week to look trendy. I would take thousands upon thousands of pictures with photographers in the hopes that my peers would like me. I tried to do what I thought would make everyone else happy. Until one day I woke up and I realized I had lost myself. I lost myself online. And that’s how this blog came to be.
I initially started writing in Lost Online about how I was trying to create a life that mirrored what I saw on the internet, but one day I finally realized it was impossible to create. The online world is not real. It’s like a portfrolio or the highlights of someone’s life. Our real lives could never look as beautiful, perfect, edited, fun, and happy as they do online. Life isn’t perfect. It’s messy.
However, the more that I became involved in this blog, I realized that it wasn’t just social media that had done a number on my mental health and well-being. No. It was so many different issues in our modern life that had affected me. And now, Lost Online has become a platform where I teach others to be well in all of those areas, not just on digital media.
I had to go through months of mediation, journaling, learning new things, seeing chiropractors, focusing on my spirituality, ridding myself of chemicals, re-training my thought patterns, fixing my diet, and more to finally feel like myself again and figure out what I wanted out of this fleeting life. To discover who I truly was, which was not just another mindless consumer and social media user. I cover all of those changes that I made in my life through this blog.
It took years of soul-searching and self-improvement in every single area of my life to become the person that I am today. But now that I’m on the other side, I want to help others who may be going through a similar struggle. I am 100% not perfect and the farthest you could possibly be from being “cool.” I’m just a 20-something girl obsessed with becoming the best version of myself, making my dreams come true, and inspiring you to do the same.
Do you want to learn how you can free yourself from other people’s opinions? I have a post about that. Do you want to learn how to protect yourself from chemicals in our modern body products? I have a post about that. Do you want to learn about text neck? I have a post about that too. Or do you want to learn why you should get out of your bubble and travel the world? Do you want to learn about how to find balance and inner peace while being a busy professional? I have a post about all of those things.
So if you’re someone who spends more time on social media than you do working on yourself… If you’re someone who is living a life that doesn’t fill you up… If you’re someone who is confused or lost… If you’re someone who could really stand to improve their health… If you’re someone who has no idea how to stay balanced and sane during the most overwhelming and media heavy point in time… If you’re someone who has a dream, but no one on your side… This blog is for you.
I would love to have you along for the ride.
